FNDI MEETING - May 6th, 2010, MILAN - "Recovery Scenario: how to support and strengthen the Demand"

Italian Industrial Distributors have met in Milan some of the most important Industrial Suppliers to discuss about “Recovery Scenario: how to support and strengthen the Demand”.

The roundtable was attended by Stefano Abbà (SKF Sales Director), Elke AURAND (Dormertools Global Marketing Director), Roberto Bottaccino (Pneumax President), Andrea Casarini ( Bonfiglioli Sales Director) and was conducted and brilliantly animated by Mirco Gasparotto (Arroweld President and Vice Fndi).

Topical issues have been addressed thanks to the concreteness of the Distributors' questions and to the Suppliers' genuine answers.
The Suppliers highlight that the general sales trend in the first quarter of 2010 is increasing between +20% and +40% compared to 2009 first quarter.
This is probably due to the fact that customers need to restore warehouse’s stock; in fact the Distributors assert that their sales trend is still aligned to the loss ratio of the first quarter of 2009.

In general, everyone is cagey about the eventuality of an increase: the projections for the next 3/6 months speak about a very mild growth, and the forecast for the end of 2010 is expected around +5%/+10% of the sells.
Leading sectors of the market are still food & beverage and packaging, otherwise metal working, automotive and wood carving are still suffering.

At this time of global crisis both Suppliers and Distributors feel the need of a tight cooperation, to be realized by:
1 - Training
2 - Reactivity
3 - Reorganization and optimization

In concrete, FNDI will deal with a group of Suppliers in its activities, to reach a proactive synergy with the industrial Distributors.
